The background of this research is the still low ability of students to perform volleyball smashes optimally during practice. This condition indicates the need for further studies to understand the factors that influence smash ability, one of which is leg explosiveness. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between leg explosiveness and smash ability in volleyball among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sulaho. This research is a correlational study with a survey approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests and measurements. The population in this study is all students of SMP Negeri 1 Sulaho, North Kolaka Regency. The research sample is focused on male eighth-grade students at that school. The results of the normality test indicate that the data is normally distributed with a Kolmogorov-Smirnov value of KS-Z = 0.681 and a significance value (P) = 0.743 > 0.05. The results of the correlation analysis show that the calculated f-value is 31.427, which is higher than the table f-value of 4.242. The significance value of 0.000 is less than 0.05, indicating that the results are significant. The Pearson correlation coefficient value of 0.753 is also greater than the table r-value of 0.374, which means there is a strong and significant relationship between leg explosive power and smash ability. Consequently, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between leg explosive power and volleyball smash ability in male students of class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Sulaho, with a contribution rate of 75.3%. The relationship between these two variables is categorized as "strong."
